MakeThinkCode Spring 2019

Untitled installation for group show
Hosted at the MakeThinkCode lab in Pacific Northwest College of Art
This piece consisted of a projection on a wall that visitors could interact with through use of a Kinect sensor. The depth sensor information from the Kinect was used to generate an evolving watercolor-like image in TouchDesigner. Taking advantage of the skeletal tracking abilities as well, various points of body position were used as variables. The variables were both used internally by TD to change the qualities of the user's visual representation, as well as sent out as OSC signals to VCV Rack. VCV is an open-source modular synthesizer, in this case set up to create endless variations on a scale and beat. Moving both arms could result in tempo changes, a change in color, or a complete particle system attacking the audio oscillator in a swarm.
